Vangie Queen Van Dyke

Mrs. Vangie Queen Van Dyke, 81, of 161 Jonestown Road, Golden Valley, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Autumn Care of Forest City, after years of declining health.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Cicero and Lucressie Queen. She was a homemaker, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and attended until her illness. She enjoyed taking care of children.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Van Dyke; one son, Douglas Van Dyke and his wife Lori; two daughters, Nancy McCurry, and Wanda Smith and her husband Morris, all of Golden Valley; a sister, Mozelle Terry of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Vanda McCurry and her husband Rodney, Derek Smith and his wife Sandi, Jessica Van Dyke, Joni Van Dyke, Jordan Pruett, Anna Van Dyke, and Railey Van Dyke; eight great grandchildren, Tiffany Smith, Kala McCurry, Dustin Smith, Kara McCurry, Kaylee Hunt, Lilly Lawter, Jonathan Hunt, and Dalton Blackwell.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gary Smith and Rev. Kenneth Queen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Douglas Van Dyke, Derek Smith, Rodney McCurry, Stacy Hudson, Randy McCurry, Caleb Queen, and Morris Queen.

No formal visitation will be held.

Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
