Thelma Melton, 86

Carrie Thelma Guffey Melton, 86, of Bostic, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living Ceneter in Forest City. 

Thelma was born on Wednesday, March 3, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Plato and Linnie Guffey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Melton Clark; and a granddaughter, Amy Melton Warlick; and her 10 siblings. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, David Melton; her son, Gary Melton and his wife Lisa; and her daughter, Sherrie Bailey and her husband Michael, all of Bostic. She was a loving wife and mother, and a very special "Nannie" to her grandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Stacy Chapman, Ashley Baker, and Ryan Bailey; and to 14 great grandchildren. 

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3:30 pm Friday, July 28, 2023 at First Baptist Bostic Cemetery. Thelma's grandchildren will officiate. 

The family will receive friends from 2 pm until 3 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Amy and her Warriors Foundation, 140 Woody Creek Road, Bostic, NC 28018.
