ROBERT WALSHLAGER—Robert “Bob” Walshlager, age 94, passed away Monday March 16, 2015, at his home in Hollis, NC. Bob was born in Chicago, IL, on December 15, 1920, to the late Otto Herman and Martha Jones Walshlager. He was also preceded in death by his wife Anna Marie Webber Walshlager; four brothers; one sister; and one grandson. Bob was a man of many talents. A veteran of the US Army Air Corps he served as a test pilot and mechanic on B-29 bombers during WWII. He also volunteered with the USO as an entertainer for the troops in Saipan and Guam. Bob worked in various professions throughout his life including a private detective, butcher, electrical engineer, structural artist, and an owner of several small businesses. He will be dearly missed by his three daughters Karla McBride and husband Patrick of Black Mountain, NC, Barbara Rupp and husband Richard of Hollis, NC, and Lynn Wagner of Hollis NC. He will also be missed by his 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild and by his many friends of all ages. The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice of Rutherford County for all the wonderful care given to Bob. Family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon at the house of Richard and Barbara Rupp. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Rutherford County PO Box 336 Forest City NC 28043 or to the Charles George VA Medical Center 1100 Tunnel Rd Asheville NC, 28805.
