Rev. Jeffrey "Jeff" Gurr, 54

Rev.  Jeffrey "Jeff" Gurr, 54, of Bostic, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at his home after losing his battle to cancer. He is the son of Lawrence "Larry" Gurr and Marilyn Gurr and Emma Phipps Gurr.
Born March 16, 1966, Jeff was an Engineering Manager at Eaton Corporation. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Golden Valley.  Jeff loved anything outdoors: camping, gardening and working around the house. Jeff loved teaching Sunday School. Through his words he touched many lives and earlier this year he was ordained as a minister, something he was very proud of.
He is survived by his wife, Monica Gurr; two sons, Matthew (Jayne) Gurr, Brantley Gurr, and two daughters, Danielle (Travis) Tallent, Grace Gurr, and step-daughter, Cheyenne Yelton. Jeff is also survived by one brother, Chris Gurr of Michigan; four sisters, Shawna (Ben) Rodgers, Brenda (Fred) Walton, all of Michigan, Geiha (Bob) Harris of Ohio, and Heather (Erin) Warner/Siders of Florida. Jeff has three grandchildren and two on the way.
The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the First Broad Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Ruppe will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Allen Hunt, Travis Tallent, Charlie Hunt, Matthew Gurr, Chris Gurr, and Fred Walton.
The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 8 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Brantley Gurr Scholarship Fund, or the Grace Gurr Scholarship Fund, and sent to SECU, PO Box 1376, Forest City, NC 28043.
