Raymond G. Schafer, 79
Mr. Raymond G. Schafer, 79, of Bostic, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
He was the son of the late William G. Schafer and Frances J. Smith Schafer, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Lail, and a sister, Joyce Walter. Ray was a self employed sales representative and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was born in Lansing, MI.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine A. Schafer; his 3 daughters, Brenda DuMond and husband Bob, of Gowen, MI, and Bonnie DeVries and husband Bob, of Greenville, MI, and Bridget Bradley and husband Mike, of Forest City; his stepdaughter, Carol Womick and husband Rob, of Forest City; his stepson, Jon Chisholm and wife Pilnyo, of Hillsborough, NC; his brother, William R. Schafer and wife Jan, of Bark River, MI; his 2 sisters, Jackie Millard of Lansing, MI, and Jolene Schafer of Gowen, MI; there are 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church. The Rev. Mack Tester and the Rev. Owen Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Chuck Lovelace, Tobby Center, Gerald Richards, David Downey, Mike Lail, and Dick Redfoot.
The Visitation will be from 12:45 pm until 2:45 pm Saturday in the church prior to the service, the body will lie in state during the visitation hours.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, PO Box 1000, Ellenboro, NC 28040, or Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
