Patsy "Pat" Jean Murray Robbins, 82, of Sunshine, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at Holly Springs Senior Citizens' Home. She was born in Sunshine on September 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Oscar George Murray and Beatrice Sanders Murray. In addition to her parents, Pat's brother, Harold Murray, preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish Pat's memory include her husband, Joseph David Robbins, Sr., of Sunshine, their son, David Robbins Jr., and his wife, Vanessa, of Boiling Springs, NC, their daughter, Mishael Robbins Hamrick, and her husband, Reverend Jamie, of Mooresville, their son, George Robbins, and his wife, Cynthia, of Sandy Mush, and their son, Marshall Robbins, and his wife, Melanie, of Sunshine. Pat's brother, Norman Murray, of Sunshine also remains to lovingly remember his sister. Pat leaves a legacy of grandchildren who will forever hold her in their hearts. These blessed grandchildren include Garrett Robbins and his wife, Sydney, of Ellenboro, Blaine Robbins of Rutherfordton, Trey, Cade, and Heath Hamrick of Mooresville, JC Robbins, Addisyn, Rylee, and Grady Byers all of Sunshine, Colton Robbins of Sandy Mush, and precious great grandsons, Zeppelin, and soon to be arriving, Lennox Robbins. A host of nieces and nephews will also sadly miss their Aunt Pat.
Pat's journey was marked by a loving commitment to her family and the community she called home her entire life. As a lifelong member of the Sunshine Community and a 1961 Beta Scholar graduate of Sunshine High School, her roots ran deeply. The love story of her life began at Winn-Dixie, where she met Joe, her cherished husband of sixty years.
In addition to her work as secretary for their family business, Joe's Repair Service, she poured her nurturing spirit into her long service with children. She taught the Toddlers' Sunday School class at Holly Springs Baptist Church for over two decades, where she was a longtime member. She also served as the Day Care Director at Main Street Baptist Church in Spindale. While she enjoyed her public work at Lowe's Foods, Forest City Fish Camp, and thirty memorable years at Hickory Log BBQ, her greatest fulfillment came from caring for her family- immediate and extended. She found immense pleasure in life's simple details, like cooking for her family, admiring the beauty of a daisy, enjoying the whirl of a hummingbird, or bringing the sunshine indoors by gathering her laundry hanging on the clothesline. She will always be remembered for a smile that had the power to light up any room.
The Funeral will begin at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Reverend Scott Moneyham and Reverend Jamie Hamrick will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service. Pallbearers are Garrett Robbins, Trey Hamrick, Cade Hamrick, Blaine Robbins, Heath Hamrick, J.C. Robbins, Colton Robbins, and Grady Byers. Memorials may be made to Holly Springs Senior Citizens' Home, 1881 Big Island Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. Our deepest gratitude to the staff of Holly Springs Senior Citizens' Home for the loving and compassionate care they provided.
