Norman Matthisen, 93

Norman Matthisen, 93, of Forest City, died Friday, August 12, 2022.

He was the widower of Janice Matthisen, and a son of the late Herman and Ingeborg Matthisen. Norman served in the Marines in Korea from 1950 to 1952. He worked at AGI for 25 years, and served as sales representative, personnel manager, and plant manager. He was a longtime member of the Rutherfordton Golf Club and he and Janice were a part of several dance clubs in the area.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Walker and her husband Freddie of Seneca, SC, Kathy Harris and her husband David of Greensboro, Stacey Bates and her husband Randy of Alpharetta, GA, and Amy Penson and her husband Joel of Bostic;  two sisters, Darlie McAuley of Lancaster, PA, and June Hartman of Hamilton Township, NJ; his grandchildren, Jennifer(Phil)Gregory, Lisa(Charles)Cobb, Olivia(Alan)Bowers, Sam(Malina)Harris, Michael(Amber)Bates, Andrew(Isabella)Bates, Jessica(Travis)Haynes, and Aaron(Kelly)Penson; his great grandchildren, Millie Grace Gregory, Lane Haynes, Vada Haynes, and Laela Penson.

A Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
