Miles Andrew Whisnant

Miles Andrew Whisnant, 84, of Union Mills, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was the son of the late Herman and Cleo Morrison Whisnant, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Whisnant Barnes. He was retired from Gayley & Lord in Marion after 35 years of service.He enjoyed the family tradition of making molasses in Cane Creek with his family for many years. He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. Miles was an Army Master Sergeant and served in Korea.  
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Bollinger Whisnant; his daughter, Becky Dorsey and her husband Stan, of Union Mills; there are two grandchildren, Andy Dorsey of Union Mills, and Allison Dorsey Kennedy and her husband Josh, of Charlottesville, VA; and a great grandson, Jack Miles Kennedy.
The Funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Cane Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Camp will officiate, and Andy Dorsey and Allison Dorsey Kennedy will each provide a eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Mark Clark, Mike Lyles, Ted Brackett, Wayne Crawford, Earl Wells, and Robert Wells.
The Visitation will be from 1:45 pm until 2:45 pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
