Matthew Leo McEnnerney, 79, of Westminister Community, died Monday, January 24, 2022.

He was the son of the late Leo and Rosaleen McEnnerney. Matthew was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served for 50 years as Director of the Rutherford County Arts Council.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Watson McEnnerney; his sons, Devin McEnnerney and his wife Billie, of Westminster, and Brendan McEnnerney and his wife Heather, of Rutherfordton; his sister, Sheila Moller and her husband Jeffrey, of Livermore, CA; his brother, Patrick McEnnerney and his wife Patricia, of Phoenix, AZ; and Matthew's grandchildren, George, Leo, Liam, Arthur, Rosaleen, John, Aidan, William, and Josephine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Herbert Burke and Deacon Andy Cilone will officiate. Burial will follow in the Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Devin McEnnerney, Brendan McEnnerney, Chuck Watson, Patrick Moss, Desmond Moller, and Ben Limehouse.

A Visitation will be held from 1pm until 2 pm Thursday in the church narthex prior to the service.

Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
