Mary Jo Bridges Whisnant, 82
Mrs. Mary Jo Bridges Whisnant, 82, of Ellenboro, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Ted and Estelle Greene. Her first husband was Guy C. Bridges who died in 1986, and her second husband Robert Allen Whisnant, Sr. died in 2008, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Burger. She was a member of Walls Baptist Church and had retired from National Textiles.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Stamper of Rutherfordton, 2 sons, Randy Bridges and wife Donnis of Shelby, and Rick Bridges and wife Cynthia, of Mooresboro; her brother, Charles Gerald Greene of Knoxville, TN; 3 stepsons, Robert Allen Whisnant, Jr., Joseph David Whisnant and wife Claudia Dale, Phillip Wayne Whisnant and wife Roxanne; her stepdaughter, Lynn Parton and husband Cecil; there are 8 grandchildren, Kristie Watson, Michelle Pierce, Angela Malone, Jessica Bridges, Shannon Bridges, Jacob Bridges, Ricky Bridges, and Becky Wagner; there are 14 great grandchildren, Hayden Kimbrell, Bria Kimbrell, Allison Padgett, Sydni Watson, Zachary Watson, Doug Stamper, Jordan Pierce, Sophee Malone, Kaidence Byers, Carter Bridges, Laney Bridges, Ashton Bridges, Skyler Bridges, and Ricky Lee Bridges; there are 4 great great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be conducted at 12:00 pm Monday, July 10, 2017 at Walls Baptist Church. The Rev. David Philbeck and Dr. Robert Toney will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Jacob Bridges, Shannon Bridges, Adam Malone, Jordan Pierce, Doug Stamper, and Hunter Stroupe.
The Visitation will be from 11 am until 12 pm prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
