Libby Butler Queen, 77, of Sunshine, died Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Libby was the widow of Ben Queen, Jr. and a daughter of the late Roy and Bonnie Fortune Butler. Libby was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Queen Blackwell. She was a longtime member of First Broad Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for 60 years; and various administrative positions within the church. She worked for many years at Mastercraft and later retired from the Rutherford County Library.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Tripp Queen and his wife Lissa, of Sunshine; her daughters, Hope Queen Toney and her husband Al, of Sunshine, and Lora Queen Sibley and her husband Chris, of Hope Mills; there are 6 grandchildren, Allison Queen and her husband Tommy, Emma Toney, Jacob Queen and his wife Sarah, Cayden Sibley, John Robert Sibley, and Erin Sibley; there are 2 great grandchildren, Presley Bumgarner and Jensen Bumgarner, and one great grandchild on the way - Esmae Queen; a son-in-law, Tim Blackwell of Inman.
The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 11, 2024 at First Broad Baptist Church. The Rev. Tripp Queen, Rev. Steve Chastain, and Rev. Charles Battle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Alvin Toney, Chris Sibley, Marcus Crank, Jacob Queen, Cayden Sibley, Tim Blackwell, John Robert Sibley, Jensen Bumgarner, and Tommy Bumgarner.
The Visitation will be from 1 pm until 2:45 pm Thursday in the church prior to the service.
