Mr. Lee Roy Sisk, 85, of Griffin, GA, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sisk was born in Forest City on March 23, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius Carr Sisk and Emma Lee Beheler Sisk; his brothers, Charles Sisk and Carllee Sisk. He graduated from Berea College in 1956 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and in July of 1956 he started working at the Georgia Experiment Station as an Animal Science Researcher where he spent 33 years before retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Sisk was a member of First Baptist Church of Griffin. He loved spending time doing family genealogy, was a devoted Christian, sincere family man, loved picking the guitar, was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed reading, and was a Civil War and World Ward II history buff.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie B. Sisk; two sons, Kirby Sisk, and David Sisk and his wife Stacy; there are two grandchildren, Abigayle Sears and Aspen Sears; his sibings, Colene Melton and her husband Guy, Barbara Jean Toney, Patsy Wright, Ina Faye Bailey and her husband Freddie, and Johnny Sisk; a sister in law, Hazel Sisk; and numberous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 24, at First Baptist Church, Griffin, GA. The visitation will be from 4 pm until 6 pm Sunday at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Robertson Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm Tuesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
