Joyce Marks Harris, 84

Joyce Marks Harris, 84, of Forest City, died Saturday, February 19, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Essie Martin Crowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Marks; her sister, Ann Crowe; and her brother, Van Crowe. Joyce worked a variety of places to support her two young children after the death of her first husband, they included Shelby Hospital, Hudson's Cloth Shop, Mack's Livermush, J.C. Cowan, and Colonial Manor. In later years she was the owner/operator of Forest Lake Retirement Home. She enjoyed taking care of others which is what lead to her operation of the retirement home, and she enjoyed crafts and ceramics. 

She is survived by her husband, Larry Harris; her sons, Hayward Marks and his wife Kim, of Lattimore, and Kevin Marks of Rutherfordton; there are 4 grandchildren, Lucas Marks and his wife Samantha of Rutherfordton, Zachery Marks and his wife Tabby of Sandy Mush, Andrew Marks, and Maggie Marks, both of Lattimore. 

The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Henderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The Visitation will be from 1:45 pm until 2:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
