James Hurdt

Mr. James Hurdt, 69, of Cemetery Road, Golden Valley, died Thursday, January 13, 2011.

He was the son of the late Frank and Lottie Hurdt, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Hurdt, and three brothers, John Hurdt, Dwight Hurdt, and Joe Hurdt. He was a member and former deacon at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. He was retired from Drexel Heritage.

He is survived by his wife, Dot Bumgarner Hurdt; two daughters, Angela Brackett and her husband, Darl, of Bostic,and Brenda Miller and her husband, Rob, of Hollis; two sons, Dennis Hurdt and his wife, Tammie, of Sunshine, and Matthew Hurdt of Golden Valley; two sisters, Ruth Philbeck and her husband, Tom, of Shelby, and Shirley Adams of Shelby; three brothers, Andrew Hurdt of Shelby, Ronald Hurdt and his wife, Ella, of Ellenboro, and Leonard Hurdt of Bostic; six grandchildren, Christopher Hurdt, Makayla Harris, Austin Hurdt, Billy Hurdt, Hannah Hurdt, and McKenzie Miller; a special friend, Dana Healey.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2011 at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church. Rev. Lamar Hewitt, Rev. Troy Dorsey, and Rev. Kenneth Kanipe will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Sunday at Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church, 6800 Bostic Sunshine Highway, Bostic.
