James Brandle, 84

James Brandle, 84, of Golden Valley, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

He was the widower of Joyce Suttle Brandle, and a son of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Gurley Brandle. In addition, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dean Brandle and Horace Stallings; and a brother-in-law, Jim Bradley.  James owned the Amaco of Alexander from 1972-1977, and owned the former Good 'Ol Boys Store from 1986 to 2000. He was a member of Golden Valley Church and an avid dirt track racer; and had retired from Duke Power after 40 years of service. 

He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Chapman and her husband Rick, and Darlene Baynard and her husband Alan, all of Golden Valley; his sons, Michael Brandle and his wife Dana of Spindale, and David Brandle and Richard Brandle of Golden Valley, and Brandon Brandle and his wife Megan of Bostic; his brother, Ronnie Brandle of Bostic; his sisters, Francis Ramsey of Gaffney, Linda Bradley of Forest City, Carolyn McSwain of Shelby, and Joyce Lowery of Bostic; there are 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.  

The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, March 9, 2026 at Golden Valley Church. The Rev. Kevin Towery and Rev. Phillip Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Bobby Suttle, Shannon Suttle, Robert Suttle, Mitchell Suttle, Tyler Brandle, Zeke Brandle, Jordan Brandle, and Tucker Bumgarner. 

The Visitation will be from 3 pm until 6 pm Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home, and at other times the family will gather at the residence of Darlene Baynard, at 397 Twin Ponds Trail, Bostic, off of Golden Valley Church Road in Golden Valley.
