Mrs. Geneva Ramsey Chapman, 95, of Ellenboro, was born July 21, 1920 in Cleveland County and passed away at Hospice House on Saturday, September 5, 2015.
She was the widow of William Garfield Chapman, Sr. and the daughter of the late Anna Magdalene Robbins Ramsey and Rev. Martin "Mark" Cetan Ramsey. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Billy S. Butler, Jr. and 13 siblings. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries.
She is survived by two daughters, Lillian Geraldine Newton and her husband Homer, of Tryon, and Doris Simmons and her husband C.W. of Forest City; her son, William G. "Sonny" Chapman and his wife Barbara of Ellenboro; a sister, Cathleen Haynes of Grover; a brother, Daniel Paul Ramsey of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; there are 12 grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Opening remarks will be offered by Tom McCraw, a history will be given by C.W. Simmons, and the Rev. David Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be in the Oak Grove UMC Fellowship Hall from 12:45pm until 1:45 pm Tuesday prior to the service.
