Fitzhugh L. Calton, Jr., 86

Mr. Fitzhugh L. Calton, Jr, 86, of Sunshine, died Thursday night, June 1, 2017 at White Oak Manor, Rutherfordton.
He was the son of the late Lee and Hattie Koone Calton, and was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Martha Lockey and Dot Melton.  Lt. Col. Fitzhugh Calton served in the Army for 20 years, and the Army Reserves for 7 years. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee, and was a past President of the Cherry Mountain Civics Club.
He is survived by his wife, Winona Hunt Calton; his 2 daughters, Jan Wilson of Forest City and Donna Carver of Sunshine; his son, Randy Calton of Boiling Springs, NC; a sister, Faye Brackett of Sunshine; and his brother Javan Calton of Sunshine; there are 3 grandchildren, Hanna Wilson, Kelly Calton and Jesse Calton; and 5 great grandchildren, Chancellor Vaughn, Tanner Calton, Sadie Calton, Grayson Calton, and Tyler Flynn.
The Funeral will be conducted at 6:00 pm Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Mike Melton, Don Melton, John Calton, George Hodge, Tim Davis and Roger Wall.
The Visitation will be from 5 pm until 6 pm Sunday at Cedar Grove UMC Sanctuary prior to the service.
