Ernest Tilda Newton
Mr. Ernest Newton, 86, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Fair Haven Home.
He was the widower of Hedy Sue Hughes Newton,and was the son of the late Nolan and Zula Wall Newton. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Cletus Newton, Malon Newton, and Warren Newton; three sisters, Mittie Newton Taylor, Viller Newton Richards, and Viola Newton Vinay; and a brother-in-law, John Williams. Ernest was a Deacon at Corinth Baptist Church, and served two terms in the US Army. He loved fox hunting and coyote hunting.
He is survived by his sister, Fannie Williams of Valdese; and a host of nieces and nephews, and a special appreciation for the loving care given by his niece Barbara Harrison and her family.
The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday at Corinth Baptist Church. Rev. Ad Hopper and Dr. David Jendrey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Tara Toney, Isaac Toney, Johnny Harrison, Jamey Harrison, Christopher Moss, and Blake Harrison.
The Visitation will be from 2:30 PM until 3:45 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
