Dora Ellen Wells 1930-2024

Dora Ellen Wells, 93, of Washburn community, died at Fair Haven Home in Bostic on January 24, 2024.

She was born in Chatham County, North Carolina in 1930 to Joseph Burke Stout and Cladie Brookes Stout.  She married Billy Wells in 1947 and they shared a loving life building their family and farm.  She earned her license as a practical nurse and worked for many years in Randolph County hospital before moving to Rutherford County and working as a Hospice nurse for 9 years.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wells, and eldest son Barry Glenn Wells. She was also preceded in death by one older brother and three older sisters. 

Ellen is survived by a daughter, Donna W. King, and son, Joseph Burke Wells; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

A graveside service will be held at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1565 Oakland Rd. at 11:00 AM Friday, January 26, 2024.
