Edna Gettys, 72
Mrs. Edna Conner Gettys, 72, of Sunshine, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at White Oak Manor, Rutherfordton.
She was the daughter of the late Jim and Georgia Raye Harris Conner. She was a member of Walls Baptist Church where she served as pianist. Edna was a retired teacher's assistant and bus driver at Sunshine Elementary School.
Edna is survived by her husband, Norris Gettys; two daughters, Andrea Gettys Randall and her husband Dean of Pineville, and Mary Ellen Gettys of Sunshine; a sister, Athala Hemphill and her husband Don, of Union Mills; a sister in law, Evelyn Conner of Greenville, SC; there are two grandsons, Brock Randall and Carson Randall.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Walls Baptist Church. The Rev. David Philbeck and Rev. Alan Beane will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Dean Dyer, Doyle Hollifield, James Bridges, Randy Ponton, Sr., Darrell Padgett and Donald Murray.
The Visitation will be from 1:15 pm until 2:45 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service. The body will lie in state during visitation hours.
Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
