Donna Wells “Sparkle” King, 70, of Bostic ended a courageous battle with cancer on February 20, 2024. She was surrounded by love and light during her final days.
Born in Randolph County, NC on November 8, 1953, Donna was the middle child of parents, Bill and Ellen Wells, who have since passed on. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, John C. King III and older brother, Barry Glenn Wells. She is survived by son, Grantham Gage King; daughter Kiowa (John) Cilone; brother Burke (Genna) Wells; and four exquisite grandchildren.
Nearly 50 years ago, Donna and John, moved to Good Earth Farm in Washburn community to live simply and intentionally. There she raised a family, formed an incredible group of friends, and worked in numerous ways to help her community. She could always be found working hard, lending a helping hand or simply baking something to brighten someone’s day. Donna strived to make people happy and was continuously upbeat and positive. As her nickname implied, she brought a little “sparkle” everywhere she went.
Donna was endlessly creative. Whether it was in her flower gardens, baking in the kitchen, painting and sketching, or creating in clay during her pottery career; she was always coming up with new and beautiful ways to entertain and excite the eyes or the taste buds. She was the daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor that everyone could always count on to bring a smile. Her presence will be deeply missed.
The funeral will be a private ceremony for close friends and family.
