Mr. Donald Edward "Eddie" Russell, Jr.,63, of Ellenboro, died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at CHS Cleveland.
Eddie was born December 23, 1954 in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Donald and Betty Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Russell. He attended high school in Nitro, WV, as well as culinary school and was an accomplished chef and master brick mason. His life long vocation was that of a Minister. Eddie was a servant of God and ministered to many people throughout all aspects of his life; this included his current church, Rainbow Temple in Kings Mountain and Jesus Way Christian Ministries in Spindale, as well as numerous other churches and mission fields in the US and abroad.
Close friends summarized the life of Prophet Eddie Russell as follows: He was always there in times of joy and sadness, times of celebration and worry; always ready with a prayer and a word of encouragement; always ready with food and encouragement to the hungry, broken and downtrodden; he loved the outdoors, praising Jesus, singing old hymns and dancing in the Spirit; above all he loved the Lord and gave his life to Jesus; he loved his family and was an avid supporter of the children's sports endeavors; Rita was his right hand; he was pawpaw to his precious grandchildren and loved his boys with all his heart. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Rita McDaniel Russell; his children, Jason Russell and wife Marva of Nitro, WV, Joshua Russell and Kellie of Ellenboro, and Jeremiah Russell, of Ellenboro; his grandchildren, Kendra, Breanna, Dylan, Jessica, Cassandra, Avery, Logan and Ryan; his sisters, Connie Russell and Patty Bailey of WV; his brothers, Douglas Russell and Charles Russell of WV, and Tommy Russell of Georgia.
The Funeral will be conducted at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Jesus Way Christian Ministries, Spindale. Pastor Helen Adams and Pastor Thomas Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Carlos Cureton, Telly Kelly, Chuck Cureton, Wayne Lowery, Phillip Williams, and Anthony Bowie.
The Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm Sunday at the church prior to the service.
