Don Stiver, 72

Don Stiver, 72, of Bostic, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Don was the son of the late William Albert Stiver and Loretta Marie Linkhauer Stiver.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Stiver; his children, Shelly Potter of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Holly Stewart and her husband Ron, of of Carlsbad, CA, Joseph Stiver and his wife Sarah, of Bostic, Ephraim Stiver of Tryon, Sean Brooks of Marietta, SC, Erin McDanal and her husband Jonathon of Spartanburg, SC, and Nick Nikolayenko and his wife Olga of Indian Land, SC; his grandchildren, Griffin Potter, Graysen Potter, Bryce Borlenghi, Ruth Stiver, Cyrus Stiver, Malachi Stiver, Alana Winfield and her husband Maceo, Zane Brooks, Thomas Cooper McDanal, Jaylen McDanal, and Grace Weeks; his 2 brothers and a sister, and their spouses, Bill and Jann Stiver of Slocomb, AL, Gay and Randy Rader of Oveido, FL, and Ray and Barbara Stiver, of Oviedo, FL.

Don’s life touched so many lives by the words he said, the love he demonstrated, the talents he used to meet the needs of others. He was truly selfless. Always up for a challenge and adventure, he’d find a way to solve the problem, push through the storm, and somehow have fun in the process. His motto was, “You gotta have fun!” He met every day with joy and expectancy, waiting to see what God would do, joining Him, then praising Him for His marvelous works and wonders.

One of his major gifts was his art of storytelling – he had a way of drawing people into the story, teaching history in story form, and sowing seeds to help people think for themselves. He always knew what to say and how to say it using words to edify and encourage people.

His favorite things included:

*restoring classic cars as a visual example of what God can do to restore a person to purpose, worth, and beauty;

*watching great old western movies because evil was always thwarted, justice prevailed, the cowboy got the girl, and life was as it should be;

*grilling out, and spending time on the porch with friends and family sharing a meal and fellowship;

*music, especially the singing/songwriting of Bob Dylan.

He was passionate about life and lived it to the fullest – every minute counted, and every person was valued. He loved and lived. Oh, how he lived, and still lives.

Celebrate his life… ”Then you can tell the next generation detail by detail the story of God, our God forever, who guides us till the end of time.” Psalm 48:13-14 (The Message)

The family will have several life celebrations to scatter Don's remains across the country.

Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
