Don Helton, Sr.
Mr. Don Helton, Sr., 75, of 1337 Salem Church Rd, Bostic, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
He was the son of the late Carl and Ammie Luckadoo Helton, and was also preceded in death by a son, Randy A. Helton. Don was a Deacon at Walls Baptist Church, and was also acitve in the RA's and the Soup Kitchen. He enjoyed his gardening, and had retired from General Motors after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Krueger Helton. Two daughters, Donna Wright of Temperanceville, VA, and Susan Morrow of Atlantic, VA. A son, Rev. Donald R. Helton, Jr., of Mt. Holly. One sister, Margaret Toney of Germanton, NC. Two brothers, Carl Helton, Jr., of Ellenboro, and Hicks Helton of Mooresboro. Two grandsons, Cory Pashkowitz and Wade Pashkowitz.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Walls Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Overton, Rev. Brent Frady, Rev. Michael Perdue, and Rev. Eugene Passmore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Tom Hartman will officiate at the graveside service.
The visitation hours will be from 6 PM until 8 PM Saturday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home, and a second visitation will be from 2 PM until 3 PM Sunday at Walls Baptist Church, prior to the service. The body will lie in state at Walls Baptist Church for the visitation hour.
Memorials may be made to the Walls Baptist Church Youth Fund, 822 Walls Baptist Church Rd, Bostic, NC 28018.
