David Joel Penson, Sr., 79
Mr. David Joel Penson, Sr., 79, of Bostic, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Hospice House, Forest City.
David was the son of the late Jay and Emma Penson, and was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lee Penson. David was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bostic where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director and Young In Heart. He served on the Bostic Town Council for 34 years and was a US Air Force Veteran. David retired as a Supervisor from Stonecutter Mills Corporation and was a member of the Rutherford County A-Model Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred H. Penson; three daughters, Lynn Wishon of Forest City, Sandy Bumgarner and her husband David of Golden Valley, and Susan Holtsclaw and her husband Robert of Bostic; his son Joel Penson and wife Amy of Bostic; a daughter in law, Melissa Dyer Penson of Ellenboro; his brother, Norris Penson and his wife Dianne of Bostic; there are 11 grandchildren, Debbie Rice, Tonya Evans, Caleb Wishon, John Bumgarner, Leslie Wall, Robby Holtsclaw, Jessica Haynes, Aaron Penson, Sydney Powell, Kayla Penson, and Austin Penson; there are numerous great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, August 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Bostic. The Rev. Mike Frazier will officiate. The Rutherford County Honor Guard will provide Military Rites on the church grounds following the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Lattimore, Randy Jolley, Wayne Sheppard, Sammy Greene, Neil Higgins, David Wright, Jeff Swink and Kenny Appling.
The Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 8 pm Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
