Coy "Buddy" Evans, 66

Coy "Buddy" Evans, 66, of Bostic, sadly left us on Friday, January 13, 2023 after a lengthy struggle with numerous health issues. He considered Friday the 13th to be his lucky day, so it was appropriate that he chose this day to pause at the Rainbow Bridge, to collect all the critters waiting on him, and journeyed onto his place in Heaven to be with the Lord.

Buddy was born in Lexington, NC on February 9th, to Jimmy and Betty Evans His family would later move to Phoenixville, PA where he graduated from Northern Chester County Technical Vocational School. He went on to join the USAF and was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. After leaving the Air Force, he continued to live in Anchorage, where he met his future wife, Debra Ayers. In 1994 he moved to Tampa Bay/Holiday FL and then in 2006 he moved to Sunshine, NC.

Buddy was a kind hearted, loving and caring soul. He definitely marched to the beat of his own personal drummer who lead him on many adventures and shenanigans in his lifetime. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help people trying to achieve their dreams and goals in life. He had a soft spot for kids and critters. He could often be seen walking at the farm, like the Pied Piper, with horses, dogs and cats following after him. He loved driving around in Apache, his old red truck, sporting his big black cowboy hat with the music blaring.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Betty Evans; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wilma "Bobbie" Ayers and Jay Max Ayers(his beloved Poppy). He suffered the loss of his two best friends, David Wilson and John Davis, and numerous spoiled rotten pets.

He is survived by his friend, partner and wife of over 40 years, Debra Ayers; his sisters, Carrie Blair of Georgia, Diane Wise and her husband Brian of Gilbertsville, PA, and Susie Curtis and her husband Chris of Coatesville, PA; his half brother, Jimmy Evans, Jr. of Pennsylvania; his Godchildren, John Davis of Fayetteville, NC, Brittany Davis Reed of Dayton, OH, and Jason and Chad Reed of Anchorage, AK; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his beloved pets Bandit and Penny.

Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. The family will not be present during this time but will schedule a private time.

Buddy's wishes were to be cremated and and his ashes will be scattered at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the charity of the donor's choice.
