Clifford Toney, 78

Clifford Toney, 78, of Duncan's Creek, passed away peacefully at his home, the same place where he was born and spent his life, on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

He was a son of the late Coy and Nicie Toney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by by his brothers Dean Toney and Lewis Toney; his sister Ethylene Spake and her husband Al; his brother-in-law Bill Burrow; his niece Sylvia Shehan and her husband Dean. Born on July 6, 1947, Clifford cherished his homeplace in Duncan's Creek and found great joy in the life he built there. He was a man who deeply loved his family, friends, and the simple moments that brought people together. He loved spending time with his family and friends and had a special enjoyment for attending car shows. His presence, stories, and warm spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Clifford was a US Army veteran, a member of Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church, and worked at Pittman Well Boring or over 18 years.

He is survived by his two beloved sons, Waylon Toney and his wife Kathy, of Duncan's Creek, and Nathan Toney and his wife Amanda of Sunshine; he was a proud grandfather to Eli Toney(Savanna), Coy Toney, Avery Collins (Autumn), Lydia Toney (Zachary), Chloe Toney, and Weston Toney; and a great grandfather to Waylon and Bentley; his sister, Catherine Burrow of Ellenboro; and his brother, Foy Toney and his wife Shirley of Sunshine; many nieces and nephews; a special companionship with Faye Williams of Bennettsville, SC and a close friendship with her niece, Angie Mumford. Clifford and Angie enjoyed many conversations and laughter over the years.

A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Duncan's Creek Church. The Rev. Phillip Duncan  and Rev. Nathan Edwards will officiate.
