Claude Gettys, 91

Claude Lee Gettys, 91, of Sunshine died Sunday, May 18, 2025.

He was the son of the late Lee and Fannie Luckadoo Gettys. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a his sisters, Etta Thomas and Mattie Toney; and brothers, Clyde Gettys, A.L. Gettys, Johnny Gettys and Rommie Gettys. Claude was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church where he was ordained Deacon in 1985. He retired from Ramsey's Hardwood Mill and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Faye G. Gettys; his daughters, Teressa Harris of Vale, and Velvia Mistretta of Sunshine; a grandson, Hayden Claude Mistretta.

The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Toney and Rev. Eugene Passmore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Hal Condrey, Jimmy Culbertson, Dale Ramsey, Harold Grayson, Monroe Ramsey, and David Allen. Honorary Pallbearers are Loyce Snider, Mae Freeman, and Caroline Brackett. 

The Visitation will be from 2:30 pm until 3:45 pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Of The Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
