Carl Harold Toney
Mr. Carl Harold Toney, 75, of Sunshine was born on December 30, 1937 and was called home from his residence to be with the Lord on June 18, 2013.
He was the son of the late Wilkie J. Toney and Bertha Campbell Toney; and also preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Toney and Larry B. Toney; and a sister, Daisy Murray.
Carl was a self employed mechanic for 37 years. He was a faithful member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a member of the grounds committee, cemetery committee, church choir and various other roles over the years. Carl was a veteran of the US Army. He loved life and lived everyday to serve his Lord to the most.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy W. Toney; his daughter Janet Robinson and her husband Jack of Sunshine; a son, Dale Toney and his wife Lynne of Raleigh; two sisters, Mary Jones of Sunshine and Maude Towery of Forest City; a brother, Floyd Toney of Winston-Salem; there are four grandchildren, Rebecca Oros and her husband John of Sylva, William Blake Henson and his fiancee Jessica of Forest City, Hayley B. Henson and Hunter Robinson, both of Sunshine; a great grandson, Aiden Cole Henson of Sunshine; he also had many nieces and nephews that were a part of his life.
The Funeral will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Eugene Passmore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
The Visitation will be from 1:45 pm until 3:45 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service, and at other times the family will gather at the home of Jack and Janet Robinson, 4993 Bostic Sunshine Highway, Bostic.
The family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude to all of the staff of Hospice of Rutherford County, and Hospice House for their kind care of Carl during his illness.
