Barbara Jean Jackson Bennett, 70

Barbara Jean Jackson Bennett, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, April 5, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Boyce Jackson and Hazel Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Hoyle; and a sister Susan Philbeck. She was a very active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, and had worked at Mastercraft and Rutherford Hospital. 

She is survived by her husband, John Bennett, Sr.; her daughters, Dana Dobbins and her husband Marty, of Rutherfordton, and Donna Hoyle and her husband Steve, of Bostic; her son, John Bennett Jr. and his wife Brenda, of Rutherfordton; her sister, Debra Mauney and her husband Jimmy of Rutherfordton; her grandchildren, Kyle Dobbins(Allison) of Rutherfordton, Adam Dobbins(Shelby) of Boiling Springs, SC, Breanna Taylor(Markus) of Rutherfordton, Morgan Hodge(Thadd) of Burke County, Skyler Blanton(Casey) of Ellenboro, Natalie Bennett, Summer Bennett, and Autumn Bennett, all of Rutherfordton; her great grandchildren, Boone Hodge, Bonnie Hodge, and Bella Hodge all of Burke County, Liam Dobbins, Maverick Dobbins, Oliver Taylor, and Archie Taylor all of Rutherfordton, Joshua Blanton of Ellenboro, and a great grandchild Baker expected to arrive in May; many nieces and nephews; and Barbara's sweet and loving dog, Roscoe.

The Funeral will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2026 Fellowship Baptist Church. The Rev. Tom Runyon and Rev. Terry White will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Kyle Dobbins, Adam Dobbins, Thadd Hodge, Casey Blanton, Jeff Mauney, Markus Taylor, and Hunter Owens

 The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
