Arthur Maynard Smith, 77

Mr. Arthur Maynard Smith, 77, of Golden Valley, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Porter and Bertha Hudson Smith, and was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Smith and a brother, Richard Smith. Arthur was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dessie Self Smith; a son, Steve Smith and his wife Donna, of Golden Valley; a sister, Brenda Peeler of Rutherfordton; a brother, Charles Smith of Golden Valley; there are two grandsons, Daniel Smith and Travis Smith.
The Funeral will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. The Rev. Eugene Passmore, Rev. Landon Rice, and Rev. Lamar Hewitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry Waters, David Philbeck, Terry Self, Trent Self, David Bumgarner, and Jeff Bumgarner.
The Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm Saturday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
