Andy "Butch" Tolomeo, 74, of Bostic, died Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Andy was the son of the late Andrew and Josephine Borgia Tolomeo, and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodi Harriman.
Andrew Tolomeo, known as Andy, Butch, Poppy, and Bubba, leaves a large family and countless friends to cherish his memory. His loved ones are also left with the impossible task of trying to capture this special man's larger-than-life spirit in the few words of an obituary.
From the streets of South Philly to the mountains of the Carolinas, all the way down to the humid climate of South Florida, Andy charmed everyone he met with humor so outrageous that anyone within earshot would soon be laughing. Andy loved so much in life: his sprawling family, his many friends, classic cars, holiday gatherings, a good game of cards, hearty Italian meals, and, of course, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Andy was several things all at once. He was street smart, business savvy, and a selfless provider for his family. He could fix anything; he could decorate, cook, build--all with a smile on his face. And although he was taken much too early, Andy lived a full and glorious life. He danced on American Bandstand, started several successful businesses, and most important to him, showed his friends and family that he loved them dearly.
Known by all for his generosity and fun nature, he made friends everywhere he went. In fact, in the words of Andy, he was loved by everyone--some when he'd come and some when he'd go.
He is survived by his daughters, Maria McGowan and her husband James, of Denver, PA, and Julie Sabatino of Bethlehem, PA; his son, Joe Tolomeo and his wife Terri, of York, PA; 3 stepdaughters, Mechelle O'Laughlin of Sunshine, and Darlene Garcia and Diana Carter of Bostic; a stepson, Steven Smyer of Carlstadt, NJ; Andy's former wife and longtime friend, Judith Pruett of Bostic; his very special love Carol Lynn Rosado of Arlington, VA; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law who loved him dearly; his grandchildren, whom he raised as his own, Amanda Byers and her husband Wes, of New Orleans, LA, and Brian Harriman of Hollywood, FL; there are a total of 8 other grandchildren.
