Alice Greene Fortune, 104

Mrs. Alice Greene Fortune, 104, of Bostic, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hospice House, Forest City.
She married Wade Kenneth Fortune on June 16th, 1934 and was married for years until his death in 1995. She was a daughter of the late Henry  Greene and Alice Donahue Greene and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Ethel Fortune Washburn; 2 sisters, Guynell Greene Ruppe and Eudora Greene Reid; and her 4 brothers, Henry Greene, Bart Greene, Daniel and Paul Greene. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bostic for 71 years, where she was active in her Sunday School class and in many church committees. She worked in the Sterling Hoisery Mill in Spindale in the 1930's.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Fortune and wife Rose Ann of Taylorsville; and 5 grandchildren: Tracy Washburn, Angie Washburn Grant, Renee Fortune Sigmon, Kenneth Fortune, Jr., and Dawn Fortune-Brown; there are 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  
The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 pm Monday, October 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Bostic. The Rev. Clay Earle and Rev. Lamar Hewitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers are David Wright, Wesley Flynn, Coty Flynn, Tyler Flynn, Ricky Edney, and Steve Lovelace.
The Visitation will be from 3 pm until 4:30 pm Sunday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
