Alfred Freeman, 81

Alfred George Freeman, 81, of Forest City, died Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

He was the son of the late George Baxter Freeman and Duliette Norville Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Freeman; and sisters-in-law Sylvia Freeman and Martha Freeman. Alfred was in the last graduating senior class at Sunshine School in 1962. He was an Army National Guard veteran, a Deacon at Adaville Baptist Church, and volunteered with Meals On Wheels. He worked in the textiles industry for over 50 years and retired from Gerber Childrenswear Alfred was a kind, hardworking man who consistently exhibited the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. He loved and cared for his family well.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mae Ramsey Freeman; his sons, Rodney Alfred Freeman (Kendra), of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Michael George Freeman (Lynn), of Simpsonville, SC; his brothers, Billy Freeman, Russell Freeman (Lisa), all of Bostic, and Lewis Freeman of Forest City; his sisters, Mary Kate Toney (Bill), Annette Lane (Russell), all of Bostic, and Lois Scruggs (Eddie), of Forest City; grandchildren, Emily Freeman, Kacie Abila (Christian), Kellie Freeman, Nathan Freeman, and Charlie Freeman; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Freeman of Bostic and Ann Freeman of Spindale.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Adaville Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Pate will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are John Brackett, Sr, Wayne Brady, Ted Hawkins, Shane O'Donnell, Eddie Scruggs, and Philip Whitaker. 

The Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm Sunday in the church prior to the service.
