Mrs. Annabel Hardin Melton, 89, of Hendersonville, and formerly of the Hopewell Community, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Lifecare of Hendersonville.
As a native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Nora Hayes Hardin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Hubert Melton; two sisters, Ruth Bailey and Hattie Grigg; and three brothers, James, Furman, and Billy Hardin.
She was a homemaker, seamstress and loving Mother, Maw Maw and Great Maw Maw. Annabel was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Harrill and her husband Ray, of Hendersonville; her son, Gary Melton and his wife Shirley, of the Hopewell Community; an adopted daughter, Linda Roper of Rutherfordton; there are three grandchildren, Crystal Harrill and her fiancee Craig Conner, of Hendersonville, Amy Blanton and her husband Donald, of Mooresboro, and Jimmy Melton and his wife Vicky, of Belmont; there are three great grandchildren, Hannah Blanton, Noah Blanton, and Conner Melton. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Teresa Blanton will officiate and Crystal Harrill will provide a Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Hopewell United Methodist church cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Donald Blanton, Jimmy Melton, Gary Bridges, Dale Hill, David Roper, and Craig Conner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Noah Blanton and Conner Melton.
The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
