Mr. Marvin Columbus "Bo" Melton, 87, of Bostic, died Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home.
He was the widower or Elizabeth Hastings Melton, whom he married on December 22, 1956. He was a son of the late Marvin Lee Melton and Lola Mae Van Dyke Melton. He was born in Golden Valley, and was a member of First Broad Baptist Church and also attended Concord Baptist Church. He graduated from Harris High School Class of '58. Marvin worked at Stonecutter Mills, Ester Mills, and Fast Food Merchandisers where he held several positions, and also worked as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the Hollis Masonic Lodge #535 and became Master in 2000. He was an honorary member of Forest City Masonic Lodge, Cliffside Masonic Lodge, Spindale Masonic Lodge and Rutherfordton Masonic Lodge. He served with pride in the US Army during the Korean War with the rank of Corporal, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a frequent visitor to the Rutherford Senior Center. Marvin was a collector of things that he bought and sold at the flea market, he loved haggling but really loved talking to people more.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Hoover and her husband Michael, of Stanley; his sons, Donny Melton and his wife Beth, of Jacksonville, FL, and Steven Melton of Ellenboro; his sisters, his twin Sue Carswell of Morganton, and Mary Hudson of Golden Valley; three grandchildren, Matthew Melton, Daniel Melton and wife Holly of Jacksonville, FL, and Erin Hoover of Stanley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Travis Laflin will officiate. Masonic Rites will be rendered, and the Rutherford County Honor Guard will provide Military Rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rutherford Senior Center, 193 Callahan Koone Road, Spindale, NC 28160.

Karen, Donny, & Steven, So sorry to hear about your Dad. I know how much you loved and cared for Him and how much He loved you all. I will be praying for your comfort and peace during this difficult time.
