Mr. Earl Crittenden Hollifield, 81, of Bostic, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Hospice House, Forest City.
He was the son of the late James Clyde Hollifield and Beuna Gettys Hollifield, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Robert, John and Hugh Hollifield, and a sister, Sue Carpenter. Earl was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and a US Army veteran, he enjoyed many good years of retirement after retiring from the textile industry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Edwards Hollifield; his son, Roger Hollifield and his wife Kim, of Bostic; a brother, Howard Hollifield and his wife Mary Jane, of Ellenboro; a sister, Mary Dodgen of Charlotte: there are two beloved grandsons,Will and Matt Hollifield; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Hawkins will officiate and Dwight Hollifield will provide a Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Sunshine United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rutherford County Honor Guard providing Military Rites. Pallbearers are Steve Hollifield, Alan Hollifield, Edgar Hollifield, Phil Dodgen, Randy Hollifield, and James Carpenter.
The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 8 pm Wednesday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043  or Cedar Grove UMC, 160 Toney Road, Bostic, NC 28018.

Earl was such a very special part of our family. He meant so much to us and we all loved him immensely, and know he is now in a better place with a restored mind and body. Mary, it is a comfort to know he is now celebrating his eternal life with his family and my mom/your sweet sister. We love you all so very much and will hold you close in our daily prayers!!
