My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family and many, many friends of George Ledford. He always had such a contagious smile and I'm betting he's never said a harsh word against anyone. He was well loved by the entire community. He's safe now, resting in the arms of Jesus, and Heaven has received a beautiful blessing today. I was honored to have met and spoke to him on many occasions.

I have known George for a number of years but have really had the honor to know him better over the last seven thru Owls baseball. He was an ardent fan and supporter. He was a regular at all the home games as well as Booster club meetings. As he, my wife Rosalind and I would walk together in McNair virtually everyone he encountered knew and spoke to him. From the young to the old he was well liked. As a young woman who has known him for quite some time told me " he was a sweetheart of sweethearts". I will miss my friend dearly, rest well pal. Larry

I wish to express my deepest sympathy at the passing of George Ledford. I met George when our son was playing for the Forest City Owls. They have no greater supporter than George! He was always happy and positive, no matter the outcome...we could all learn a great lesson from him! May God bless his surviving family and friends...

The Smile You Left Behind

Sometimes the good in a man isn't noticed as time goes on but when we finally see it, their life is already gone.
Many times we take for granted the smiles we see everyday, it will never be the same when those smiles are gone away.
God uses certain people to brighten up our day, sometimes to make us think and guide us on our way.
We long for fame and fortune, for the world to know our name, but all that really matters is the way we played the game.
As I watch the life of others, this comes through my mind, it's not what you have on earth, it's the smile you left behind...

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of George. Forest City will never be the same. I grew up going to Smith's Drug Store and George was a fixture. He was always ready to say hello and give you a smile. When my Dad passed away last November George came up to me the next time I was in Smith's and told me he was sorry about my Dad. He will certainly be missed by the entire town.
