I didn''t really get to know Fred that well except over the last couple months. Mr. McFarland came into Greene''s Cafe where I worked on and off for as long as I have been working there. Sometimes he would come order 4 or 5 vegetable plates, and sometimes he would just get a cup of coffee and let us enjoy his company. He probably wouldn''t want me to tell this but he donated money to me and others who worked at the cafe who were working their way through college, he would always say it wasn''t much, but I really don''t think he knew how much it meant. I''m thankful that I met Fred and got to spend many afternoons taking a break listening to the wonderful things he had to say. We will miss you Fred. "I thank my God upon every rememberance of you..." _Philippians 1:3_

Prayers for JB and family. Mr. Fred will be greatly missed at Big Springs and all around the county. I will miss our coffee breaks together and the deep conversations we use to have. I will miss his gentleman ways, his ability to make me smile, his work ethic and his sweet voice in the choir. His heart was GREAT BIG and his life was lived for the Lord so I shall see him again someday. We love you Mr. Fred:) Our loss is Heavens Gain!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with Fred's family. Fred always meant alot to me. He was there for me to talk to after my father passed away in 1981. His long talks and wit were just what I needed those late nights at Shoney's when I thought I couldn't face another night. His smile could light any dark day. I am blessed to have known him and will miss him.

Fred was one of the best human beings I have ever known -- a kind soul with a loving, giving heart. He was a true friend, a fixture in the community, and loved by many. Those who were lucky enough to know Fred have suffered a great loss with his passing. There will never be another Fred McFarland.

My sympathies and prayers go out to his family.
