Walter was a skilled metal machinist and welder who worked in the maintenance department at Aeroquip/Eaton Corporation in Forest City for more than twenty-five years prior his retirement. His previous work history included a nine-year stint at Spindale Mills in Spindale. His hobbies after retirement included restoring and discussing Allis-Chalmers tractors, making pencil drawings of old buildings, and playing Scrabble. He was a member of Mt.
